Biography
Japanese pianist Madoka Asari is a highly sought after collaborator who has performed in the U.S.A., Japan, France, and the Czech Republic. Madoka has played with some of today’s most prominent artists including Geraldine Walther (Takács Quartet), Clive Greensmith (Montrose Trio/Tokyo Quartet), Michelle Kim (New York Philharmonic), and Caleb Hudson (Canadian Brass). Her active performing career has taken her to venues such as Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, Hahn Hall (Santa Barbara, CA), Boettcher Concert Hall (Denver, CO) and Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara. Madoka’s performances have been featured on Colorado Public Radio.
As a soloist, Madoka has appeared with The Philharmonia of Greater Kansas City, Littleton Symphony, and Lamont Symphony Orchestra. In 2023 Madoka won 1st prize in The United States International Duo Competition with Dr. Xu Hui. Madoka earned fellowships at Aspen Music Festival and Music Academy of the West.
Madoka has served as a faculty and staff member at DU’s Lamont School of Music, Colorado State University, and CU Boulder. In addition to working with students at the high school level, Madoka enjoys coaching and performing with rising musicians through Colorado American String Teachers Association, Suzuki Association of Americas, Young Musicians Foundation of Colorado, Colorado State Music Teachers Association, and Colorado Children’s Chorale.
Madoka holds a Master of Music degree from Indiana University and Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Denver. Her teachers and coaches have included Steven Mayer, Evelyne Brancart, Shigeo Neriki, Rita Sloan and Jonathan Feldman. Currently, Madoka teaches private piano lessons at Colorado Academy, collaborates with various artists and groups, and performs at various concerts and events.
